10 KB is signature territory. Almost nobody asks for a photo this small — but exam and application portals routinely want a signature scan in a 10–20 KB window (SSC and IBPS/SBI are the classic cases), and some older systems cap tiny thumbnails or icons around here. PixFit treats 10 KB as a hard budget: highest JPEG quality that fits, dimensions scaled down when quality alone can't get there.
Line art and signatures do great — mostly-white images with dark strokes are exactly what JPEG compresses best, and a 140×60 or 300×80 signature usually fits at high quality with room to spare. A photograph is a different story: expect roughly 300–450 px on the long edge, visibly soft. If a form wants a photo under 10 KB, crop tight to the face first and put the form's exact pixel dimensions in the "Exact size" field — spending the whole budget on exactly the pixels the form displays is the difference between blurry and fine.
Many signature fields aren't "under 10 KB" but a range like "10–20 KB" — and a clean signature scan often compresses to 3–5 KB, below the floor, so the portal rejects it as too small. Type the range (e.g. 10-20kb) into the target field: if the best encode lands under the minimum, PixFit pads the JPEG with a harmless, spec-valid comment block to meet the floor exactly. The image itself is unchanged, and the result says plainly when padding happened.
