ISRO’s Centralised Recruitment Board opened advertisement ISRO:ICRB:01(A-JPA):2026 (dated July 27, 2026) for 244 posts in Level 4 of the pay matrix: Assistants (113), Junior Personal Assistants (81), Upper Division Clerks (22, Bengaluru) and Stenographers (10, Bengaluru), plus 17 Assistant and 1 JPA posts in autonomous bodies under the Department of Space. Registration runs July 27 to August 16, 2026 on the online portal linked from isro.gov.in → Careers, and August 16 is also the fee-payment deadline. The photograph spec, from section 14.1 of the advert, is the classic TCS-iON block: a recent passport-style colour picture (not older than six months), 4.5×3.5 cm, light-coloured or preferably white background, no caps, hats or dark glasses, 200×230 pixels (preferred), .jpg/.jpeg only, file size between 20 kb and 50 kb — exactly what this page is preset to.
Here is the catch: section 8’s document checklist tells you to upload the photograph “(Maximum Size of 50 Kb to 100 Kb)” — and gives the signature the very same “50 Kb to 100 Kb” parenthetical. Six pages later, the dedicated upload instructions in section 14.1 say the photo must be 20 kb–50 kb (“ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb”) and the signature 10 kb–20 kb (“not more than 20kb”). For the signature the two rules don’t even overlap — no file can be under 20 kb and between 50 and 100 kb at once — so the checklist parenthetical cannot be the operative rule. Section 14.1 is the standard IBPS-family block that this portal family’s upload widget actually enforces (the same numbers as IBPS and LIC HFL). If you want to satisfy the strict reading of both lines, aim the photo at the top of the window — PixFit lands at the best quality that fits under 50 kb, which for a 200×230 scan is typically in the 40s — and follow 14.1 for the signature.
Sign on white paper with a black-ink pen, scan to 140×60 pixels (preferred) at 10–20 kb, .jpg/.jpeg. A signature in CAPITAL LETTERS is not accepted. The IBPS signature page is preset to these exact numbers — use it for this form too. Both files should be “of appropriate size and clearly visible”; a smudged or cropped-off signature is the avoidable rejection here.
Per ISRO’s own FAQ for this advert, nothing is posted to ISRO HQ: the photo, signature and any category certificate are uploaded in the final “Document and Payment” tab of the application, after which the form redirects to the NTRP portal for the fee. The application fee is ₹100, but every candidate initially pays ₹500 as processing fee — women, SC/ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates upload the relevant certificate with the application to get the processing fee refunded in full. Age limit is 28 as on August 16, 2026 (31 for OBC, 33 for SC/ST against reserved posts, with the usual further relaxations). Selection is a 150-minute objective written test followed by a skill test, shortlisted at 1:5 per category; Stenographer candidates also take a stenography test. Intimation about hall tickets comes by email and SMS only — the email and mobile number you register with are load-bearing, so type them carefully.
