Drop your photograph, get a 200×230 px JPEG between 20 and 50 KB — the NHB recruitment upload format, minimum included. Nothing is uploaded; it all runs in your browser.
The National Housing Bank recruits officers — Assistant Manager, AGM, DGM and GM grades, regular and on contract — through advertisements on nhb.org.in (Opportunities → Current Vacancies), on the familiar IBPS-style application flow. The two most recent advertisements (Advt No. NHB/HRMD/RECRUITMENT/2025-26/03 of November 2025 and 2025-26/04 of January 2026) print an identical upload guideline, and it takes four image files:
Photograph: recent passport-style colour picture (4.5×3.5 cm) against a light-coloured, preferably white background, 200×230 pixels (preferred), 20–50 kb — this page is preset to exactly that, minimum included. Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable; religious headwear is allowed but must not cover the face. Signature: 140×60 pixels (preferred), 10–20 kb, black-ink pen on white paper — capital-letter signatures are not accepted, and the signature you put on the call letter and attendance sheet must match the upload or you're disqualified. Left thumb impression and handwriting declaration: sizes discussed below, because the advertisement disagrees with itself on both.
In the upload-guidelines bullet list, NHB's advertisements say: “Size of file should be between 10kb – 20kb for signature and left thumb impression” and “For handwritten declaration size of file should be 20 kb – 50 kb.” Two pages later, the same advertisements' detailed blocks specify the thumb impression at 240×240 pixels in 200 DPI (3×3 cm), 20–50 KB and the handwritten declaration at 800×400 pixels in 200 DPI (10×5 cm), 50–100 KB — the standard figures SEBI, SIDBI and the other IBPS-platform regulators print. All four sentences are in the same official PDFs, in both cycles' advertisements. It reads as if the bullet list slid one row: the signature's window got attached to the thumb, and the thumb's window to the declaration.
The practical move: aim at the boundary the two sentences share. A thumb scan right at ~20 KB is the only size both thumb sentences accept (type 20kb in the target box); a declaration right at ~50 KB is the only size both declaration sentences accept (type 48-50kb). Then believe the upload screen: it rejects files outside whatever window the form actually enforces and tells you so, and one refit here — to 35 KB for the thumb or 75 KB for the declaration if the form wants the bigger windows — fixes it in seconds. The shapes to use are the detailed blocks' 240×240 and 800×400; those aren't contradicted anywhere.
The top resizer page for NHB (dated 2023) prints the thumb impression box as 4×3 cm — NHB's advertisements say 3×3 cm (240×240, square) — and simply picks the 20–50 KB thumb and 50–100 KB declaration figures without mentioning that the same adverts' own guideline bullets contradict both windows. It isn't wrong so much as unaware; but if your thumb file bounces at 25 KB, now you know which sentence bounced it. The bank-job blogs that list NHB vacancies don't carry any spec at all.
There is no live webcam capture in NHB's flow (unlike SEBI, SIDBI and PFRDA) — the uploaded photo is the photo, and you must produce the same photograph and look like it at every later stage; changing your appearance mid-process is itself a stated disqualification risk. The declaration must be written in English, in your own hand, not in capitals — and the advertisements add that if a handwriting expert later finds the declaration dissimilar to your hand, the candidature or appointment is cancelled. The thumb impression must be unsmudged (right thumb is fine if you don't have a left one; visually-impaired candidates may upload the typed text with their thumb impression below it).
The fee is ₹850 plus GST (application fee including intimation charges); SC/ST/PwBD candidates pay ₹175 intimation charges plus GST. It is non-refundable even if the application is rejected. The 2025-26/03 window ran November 7–28, 2025 (eight posts, including two Assistant Manager grades) and 2025-26/04 ran January 31 – February 20, 2026 (two GM posts); both cycles are complete, and NHB advertises in batches like this every cycle — the next advertisement will restate these formats, and it wins over this page if it differs.
