1920×1080 — Full HD, 16:9 — is the most common exact-size request there is: desktop wallpapers, presentation slide backgrounds, website hero banners, stream overlays, TV signage. This page is preset to exactly those pixels with a 1 MB budget, which at this resolution means high JPEG quality for most photos. Sources that aren't 16:9 are center cover-cropped: the frame is filled and the overflow trimmed, never squashed.
For a wallpaper, remember the OS puts icons, docks and clocks on top — busy edges fight with them, so favor images with quiet margins. For slide backgrounds, 1 MB per image keeps a 30-slide deck light enough to email. If you're targeting a 1440p or 4K screen, use 2560×1440 or 3840×2160 — any dimensions work, these pages just preset the common ones.
If your source is smaller than 1920×1080, PixFit warns you before it stretches anything: enlarging can't create detail that was never captured, and a stretched 800 px photo makes a soft wallpaper.
