The New India Assurance Company (NIACL), the largest public-sector general insurer, recruits Administrative Officers (Scale-I, Generalists and Specialists — 550 posts in the 2025 exercise) and Assistants (clerical cadre, state-wise — 500 posts in the 2024 exercise) through detailed advertisements on newindia.co.in. Both cadres take the photograph the same way: a recent passport-style colour picture against a light-coloured, preferably white background, 200×230 pixels (preferred), 20kb–50kb, JPG — this page is preset to exactly that, minimum included. Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable; religious headwear is allowed if it doesn’t cover the face; glasses are fine if the eyes are clearly seen. The AO advert is blunt about the stakes: if the photo is not uploaded in the photo slot, “Admission for Examination will be rejected / denied” — and the fee is non-refundable. The signature is also common to both: 140×60 pixels (preferred), 10kb–20kb, black ink on white paper, not in capital letters, and a mismatch with what you sign on the attendance sheet or call letter means disqualification.
Here is what no resize guide tells you: NIACL’s own two cadres specify the left thumb impression and handwritten declaration differently. The AO 2025 advertisement prints the full IBPS-standard blocks: thumb 240×240 pixels at 200 DPI (3×3 cm), 20–50 KB; declaration 800×400 pixels at 200 DPI (10×5 cm), 50–100 KB, written in English in your own hand. The Assistant 2024 advertisement contains neither of those pixel figures anywhere — it folds all three non-photo images under one “140×60 pixels (preferred)” line and gives 10–20 kb for the signature and left thumb impression and 20–50 kb for the handwritten declaration. A thumb scan padded to 35 KB is valid for AO and oversized for Assistant; a 15 KB one is valid for Assistant and under the AO floor. So don’t take any tool’s single answer — open the advertisement for the post you’re applying to and aim at its column. The IBPS thumb & declaration page is preset to the AO-style figures; for the Assistant reading, type the byte window from your advert into the target field above. In both cadres the thumb is black or blue ink on white paper (right thumb if you don’t have a left one), and the declaration must not be in capitals.
Two different public-sector general insurers recruit through near-identical IBPS-platform forms: NIACL is The New India Assurance Company (newindia.co.in); NICL is National Insurance Company Limited. Several resizer sites sell “NICL AO” and “NICL Assistant” photo pages carrying numbers from New India’s adverts — the figures happen to be the same IBPS family, but the companies, vacancies and application portals are different. Make sure the advertisement you follow — and the form you pay on — belongs to the company you mean to join. For AO, the form also requires a live photograph — captured by webcam or by scanning a QR code and shooting on your phone, auto-uploaded — against a light background, passport-style, no coloured glasses or caps, no small-size or blurred captures. Identity checks continue at the exam: NIACL captures biometric data, a photograph and a left-eye IRIS scan from Phase-I qualifiers on Phase-II day, and verifies them again at the interview and at joining — the advert’s own advice includes washing mehndi or ink off your fingers, drying them, and notifying the centre if your left thumb is injured (the iris scan is no-touch, at about half a foot). For Assistant, the 2024 advert says biometrics may be captured at Tier-II and verified at the regional language test and appointment. Your uploaded photo, the live capture and the person at the centre all get compared — use a genuinely recent photo and don’t change your appearance between form and joining.
Both exercises charged ₹850 (inclusive of GST) — ₹100 intimation-only for SC/ST/PwBD — non-refundable. Assistants apply in one State/UT only and sit a regional language test.
