Fit

Drop your photo, get a white-background JPG with your name and the date it was taken printed on it — the rule HSSC’s own 2026 advertisements state for every category — fitted to a size that clears the portal. Everything runs in your browser; nothing leaves your device.

What HSSC actually publishes

The Haryana Staff Selection Commission states its photo rule in the advertisements themselves — and it is not a pixel count. Advt No. 05/2026 (the Common Eligibility Test for Group-D posts), clause 8.5, verbatim: “Candidates are advised to upload scanned latest coloured photograph with white background. Ensure that the name of candidate and the date on which the photograph was taken are clearly mentioned on the photograph.” The mandatory-documents table in the same advert repeats it for every single category, General to PwBD: “Latest Scanned coloured photograph with white background clearly mentioned date and name of the candidate on the photograph”, plus a “Scanned Signature of the Candidate”. Advt No. 06/2026 (Group-C posts) carries identical wording. What neither advert — nor anywhere else public on hssc.gov.in — gives you is a byte size or pixel dimension: those limits appear on the application portal’s upload screen, behind the OTP login.

The rule everyone misses: your name and date, printed on the photo

Like Kerala PSC and JKPSC, HSSC wants the photograph itself to carry the candidate’s name and the date it was taken. Studio photos in Haryana come with the strip printed; a phone photo doesn’t — and generic resizers can’t add it. PixFit draws it for you: fill in the Print on photo fields in the options bar (line one: your name; line two: the date the photo was taken, e.g. 01-08-2026) and a white strip with black text is rendered across the bottom of the output before it’s fitted to the byte target — one pass, size and strip together. Be honest with the date: it documents when the photo was taken, and the adverts want a latest photograph. The background rule is white — not off-white, not studio blue.

Three “official” specs on the internet, none of them HSSC’s

Search “HSSC photo size” and the resizer sites answer with confident, mutually contradicting numbers: one sells an “official” 138×177 px, 20–40 KB photo with a 138×59 px signature; another says “official size, 10–50 KB” and cites hssc.gov.in as the source (hssc.gov.in publishes no such number); a third sells 3.5×4.5 cm “exact dimensions”. They cannot all be right, and none of those figures appear in any HSSC advertisement or notice. Some may echo what some year’s portal enforced — but the only authority is the upload screen in front of you. This page’s preset is an honest hedge, not a fake spec: 22–38 KB lands inside every window those tools claim, so the file passes whichever folklore limit the portal actually enforces, and the padding costs zero quality. If your upload screen states a different limit, type it into the target field and PixFit will hit that instead — and if it states exact pixels, put them in the Exact size field.

How HSSC applications actually flow — and where the photo goes in twice

Haryana recruitment is two-stage: first the CET (Common Eligibility Test) registration — Group C and Group D have separate CETs — then advertisement-specific applications for actual posts, open to CET-qualified candidates. The photo and documents get uploaded at CET registration and again per advertisement: the live Advt 06/2026 portal’s own instructions say Group-C CET 2025 qualified candidates “will be required to register again using their CET Registration Number”, with the OTP going to the email and mobile from CET registration. So the photo you prepare here isn’t a one-off — it’s the file you’ll reach for at every window. HSSC published six advertisements in the first seven months of 2026 alone.

Scans, signature, and the signed form — the other upload rules

Three more first-party rules from the same adverts trip people at final submission. Documents must be scanned from originals, whole, and “if any certificate is printed on both sides, then both sides should be scanned and uploaded” (clause 8.4). A signed copy of the application form is uploaded at final submission (clause 8.6) — print, sign, scan, upload — and only documents uploaded with the form count: “Document(s) which is/are not uploaded at the time of filling up the application form shall not be considered at subsequent stage” (clause 8.7). For the signature: dark ink on white paper, photographed straight-on; tick Signature photo cleanup to have the ink found, trimmed and put on pure white automatically — or draw one on the signature pad — then fit it to about 19 KB, which clears every limit the folklore claims for HSSC signatures.

Windows close hard here

The CET Group-D window ran 19.06.2026–03.07.2026 and was extended once, to 05.07.2026, by a Public Notice that ends: “No further opportunity for filling or editing application form shall be provided under any circumstances.” Advt 06/2026 ran six days, 24.06–30.06.2026. Correction windows are brief (09–11.07 for the CET) and final. Prepare the photo, the signature and the certificate scans before the next window opens, and the form is an evening’s work instead of a missed deadline. And keep the printout: the same photo travels to the exam hall with you.

Privacy — and the real portals

Advertisements and notices live at hssc.gov.in; applications happen on per-advertisement portals linked from it (Advt 06/2026 at adv062026.hryssc.com; the CET through the Haryana one-time-registration portal, onetimeregn.haryana.gov.in). A photo carrying your name and a date, tied to your recruitment profile, has no business passing through a resizer’s server — and most HSSC photo tools are exactly that: server-side uploads. PixFit runs entirely in your browser: the photo, the name you type, the date — none of it leaves your device, and the typed text isn’t saved in browser storage either. The re-encode strips EXIF metadata (including GPS) as a side effect. Applying across state or central exams too? The full verified table covers SSC, UPPSC, Railway RRB and seventy more.

Spec sources: HSSC’s own Advt No. 05/2026 (CET Group-D, published 18.06.2026) and Advt No. 06/2026 (Group-C, published 22.06.2026) PDFs from hssc.gov.in, the Public Notice dated 03.07.2026 extending the CET window, and the live Advt 06/2026 application portal’s instructions — all read August 2026. HSSC publishes no public byte or pixel spec for the photo and signature; the upload screen inside the portal is the only authority on numbers — if it disagrees with this page’s suggestion, believe the form.
