The NEET (UG) upload formats

The NTA application form takes four scanned images, each JPG/JPEG with an enforced size window: the passport-size photograph at 10–200 KB, the postcard-size photograph (4×6 inch) also at 10–200 KB, the signature at 10–100 KB, and finger/thumb impressions at 10–200 KB. This page is preset to the photo window (10–200 KB). For the signature, change Target to 100 KB and Min to 10 KB in the fields above — a tight signature crop at high quality can easily land under the 10 KB floor, in which case PixFit pads the file up with a spec-valid JPEG comment (plain-text padding bytes; no pixels change, portals accept it).

The signature window changed. For years the NEET signature limit was 4–30 KB, and many guides still say so. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin raised it to 10–100 KB. If the year you're applying differs from what this page says, follow the size printed in your year's Information Bulletin — it wins.

Content rules (PixFit can't check these)

NTA rejects on composition, not just file size: the photo must be a recent color photo on a white or light background with about 80% face visible including both ears, no cap or mask (regular spectacles are fine). The signature must be in running hand with black ink on white paper — writing your name in capital letters is treated as invalid. PixFit fixes bytes and pixels only; check the photo instructions in the current Information Bulletin on exams.nta.ac.in/NEET before you upload, and treat that bulletin as the authority if it disagrees with anything here — NTA has revised these specs between years.

Postcard photo tip

The postcard upload is the same photograph printed larger — a 4×6 inch (2:3) crop. If your scan is huge, the 200 KB ceiling is what matters; PixFit will downscale only if it has to and otherwise just finds the best quality that fits. Keep copies of the exact printed photo: NTA asks you to bring matching passport and postcard prints on exam day.
